When choosing a holistic healing modality, it is important to find what resonates with you the most in order to be able to receive maximum benefits. The modalities I work with have been part of my life for years and have helped me tremendously. Depending on your goals, we will also look at your overall lifestyle and diet to determine if adjustments would be beneficial.
In addition to at-home wellness programs, I can design your health and fitness routines while you're on the road.
KUNDALINI YOGA & MEDITATION, the Yoga of Awareness, was first brought to the West from India by Yogi Bhajan in 1968. It uses all of the elements of the ancient teachings of Yoga through the combination of postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), sound, visualization, and meditation to awaken the creative potential that lies deep within us. Kundalini Yoga works on a deep and subtle level to relieve the stress of everyday life and break the habits that are often the cause of mental, emotional, or physical dis-ease. As the glandular and nervous systems are brought into balance through dynamic strengthening and stretching sets (kriyas), the chakras (energy centers) are opened and aligned. Kundalini Yoga helps you gain inner vitality to compensate for the adverse effects of stress so you can excel in life. The mind becomes still and one is left with the experience of improved health, reduced stress, and expanded consciousness, relaxation and joy. "Kundalini Yoga is simply uncoiling yourself to find your potential and your vitality and to reach your virtues. There is nothing outside. Everything is in you. You are the storehouse of your totality." - Yogi Bhajan. No prior Yoga experience is necessary.
PILATES is an effective mind and full-body conditioning that improves physical and mental well being, enhances performance and confidence, develops focus and control, increases range of motion and agility, and prevents and rehabilitates injuries. Pilates also tones, strengthens and lengthens muscles, improves posture, provides flexibility and balance, unites body and mind, and creates a more streamlined shape. Pilates will help you reduce stress and feel energized. As we age, we lose flexibility, muscle mass and bone density unless we actively work our bodies to slow or reverse these processes. Pilates helps you develop essential flexibility, muscle mass and bone density. Professional dancers have known the benefits of Pilates for decades. Pilates focuses on integrating your entire body, rather than exercising each body part separately. This helps you achieve better alignment and re-teaches your body to work more efficiently. Top athletes use it for strength, flexibility and injury prevention. Hollywood celebrities and supermodels use it to maintain beautiful physiques. Pilates work can include the physio-ball, magic circle, dyna-bands, foam roller, and free weights. Within 10 classes you will see and feel a difference in your body and overall wellness. No matter what your age or physical condition, Pilates can work for you.
SHIATSU ACUPRESSURE MASSAGE, based on the same theories as acupuncture, is an ancient, traditional hands-on Japanese technique that promotes our bodies own healing abilities. Literally translated as 'finger pressure,' Shiatsu also involves the use of palms, elbows and knees working along channels in the body known as meridians. Meridians are energy highways that nourish the whole body. When this energy becomes stagnant we experience health problems. Shiatsu promotes the flow of energy and helps a wide range of conditions - from specific injuries to more general symptoms including back and joint pain, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, high blood pressure, headaches, menstrual, digestive and asthmatic problems, depression, stress, and more. It is done clothed, with no massage oils. The goal is to achieve a state of deep relaxation and self-awareness necessary for healing. Shiatsu uses acupressure to relax the mind and body, and enhance and harmonizer the body's own healing powers.
