During my twenty-year public relations and marketing career in the entertainment business I experienced first hand the physical, mental, emotional, and creative stress resulting from the demands of the industry. After leaving my career in 2004, I went to Ghana, West Africa for several months as part of a small group that brought the first comprehensive Yoga teacher-training program to Africa. From Africa, I went to Haiti where I now frequently work with small communities teaching stress management, Yoga and meditation. My work in developing countries has helped me realize that the stress and challenges I faced during my career are not unique to the entertainment industry. Everyone, no matter what their job title, salary, or zip code, face similar problems.
I am now fulfilling my longtime passion of helping people develop the balance of mind, body and spirit. I've been involved with holistic health and healing for over 25 years and am a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher and Pilates instructor, as well as a certified Shiatsu massage therapist. I travel in the U.S. and internationally with touring musicians and bring Yoga, Pilates and Shiatsu to film and television productions and recording studios.
I am also a writer and have included articles that I have written on the Articles, Blog & More page of this site. For the Kundalini Yoga Magazine, Aquarian Times, I have written about my experiences in Africa, overcoming the challenges of a meditation called Bound Lotus (a.k.a. Torture Pose), and the process of becoming a teacher. In 2005, an item I wrote was included in a piece in Spirituality and Health.
I completed my Kundalini Yoga and Meditation teacher-training in Ghana, West Africa, and am certified by the Kundalini Research Institute.
I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance.
My Pilates certification comes from the Kane School of Core Integration
in New York, and my Shiatsu certification is from the Center of Practical Energetics and the American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA).
In the entertainment business, I was Vice President, Worldwide Publicity, RCA Victor Group (formerly Arista Associated Labels), a division of BMG, where I spearheaded global campaigns for international Grammy-winners including Ziggy Marley, Etta James and the Chieftans. Previously, I served as Vice President, Worldwide Publicity for Sony Classical where I worked internationally with artists including Yo-Yo Ma and The Three Tenors. For 8 years, I was co-president of Kahn & Jacobs Public Relations, a leading entertainment public relations and marketing agency in New York. I have been featured in several articles in PR Week magazine, and The Hollywood Reporter named me one of the twenty-six "Power Players" in the New York film industry. Over the years, I orchestrated extensive national campaigns for leading films, worked on television accounts, and represented film directors, actors, distributors and production companies.
My experience in the entertainment industry has provided me with a greater understanding of what is needed to keep it together in high-pressure, stressful situations. My work in developing countries has given me a deeper appreciation and gratitude for everything in my life and has helped me develop more compassion and a better understanding of myself. These experiences all translate into my work that is constantly evolving, and I look forward to sharing this with you. |
